In 2010, Barak Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi conspired with 279 Democrats to rob and eventually possibly murder millions of Americans. That sounds a bit melodramatic, doesn’t it? Well, consider this. Since they passed it without allowing anyone to read it, Obamacare has twisted America’s national political and economic landscape into a distorted, deformed imitation of its former self. Just three years later we are already experiencing the tip of the iceberg of the financial hardship Obama and his cronies plan for us. Obamacare encompasses 18% of our economy and effects every citizen, except, of course, those in Washington who foisted this albatross on us and exempted themselves from its resulting poor healthcare, shortage of doctors, and insane expenses.
Over 5 million people have had their policies cancelled in the past few weeks, and others are seeing their premiums going up. Products we once had, and liked, are not available now. Obama promised us that the insurance exchange would save families as much as $2,300 a year. However, according to the IRS the cheapest Obama plan in 2016 will cost each family $20,000. If a family doesn’t have insurance, it will pay a penalty of about $200 a month. So, low income Americans have a choice looming before them. Do they pay $1,667 a month for insurance that barely covers their family’s needs, or do they pay $200 a month penalty and go without insurance?
Obamacare forces us to buy products we don’t need or want. The one-size-fits-all package includes things many of us will never use. Why would a sixty-year-old grandmother need maternity insurance, or, treatment for drug addiction? These are both products that many of us don’t need, yet they make us buy them whether we want them or not.
It is only going to get worse as doctors leave their practices and they add millions to the healthcare roles. Eighty-three percent of doctors have considered leaving the medical field because of Obamacare and 45% of those probably will. Even if most of them stay on, we will still have a shortage of at least 90,000 doctors by 2020. California is already facing the issue of too few doctors to care for their ballooning patient rolls. There is even talk of allowing physician assistants and nurse practitioners to set up private practices, and to allow pharmacists and optometrist to serve as primary care providers. We may have platinum insurance, but if doctors aren’t available, we will still be waiting weeks for an appointment, or sitting for hours in crowded waiting rooms full of crying babies with runny noses and earaches.
As these destructive laws come into force, we see increasing numbers of people who can barely afford their family’s insurance being pushed out of jobs that gave them choices and pride in themselves. Now their employers must reduce their hours, causing insurance to be a luxury.
Since people started losing their policies the Democrats and many in the media are getting nervous. Barack Obama and his followers are finding it increasingly difficult to overcome the pitfalls of Obamacare and their role in it. Last week the Democrats in Congress gave him 72 hours to “fix” the problem of millions of Americans losing their insurance, or they would side with the Republicans on a solution. So what did he do? He declared that the more than 5 million Americans who have lost their insurance because of Obamacare can now keep it for another year. Problem solved. Right? Yeah, right.
First, Barack Obama doesn’t have the authority to “declare” it is now legal for insurance companies to sell “substandard” insurance plans. He cannot mandate a corporation to sell a product any more than he can “speak” a law into existence or “speak” it out of existence.
In a statement emailed to the Examiner, Americans for Limited Government president Nathan Mehrens said that Obama’s latest attempt to bypass Congress “takes the cake.”
Congress needs to dismantle the entire Obamacare debacle,” he said. “This concept that the letter of the law is nothing more than a pretext for governing is ruinous to the basic Constitutional principles that guide our nation. Obama can begin the process of rescinding his regulations that have effectively disqualified many health plans, but even that requires a legal process.”
“President Obama’s disregard for the rule of law is legendary, but this attempt to by-pass Congress takes the cake,” he added.
Of course, we are not hearing that Barack Obama not only knew people would lose their policies, but he changed the law himself to exclude millions of Americans from qualifying under the grandfather clause.
Eric Cantor, House Majority Leader, reports that Obama knew about it before he signed Obamacare into law.
“Back in 2010, we had a meeting at the Blair House with the President before he signed Obamacare into law. And I raised with the President the issue of plans being cancelled. The President actually admitted he knew people would lose their plans, yet he kept making this false promise that somehow people could keep their plans.”
According to target=”_blank”>Senator Rand Paul, who spoke at a luncheon in Charleston, South Carolina on Monday, November 11, the President of the United States himself wrote the regulation to cancel the health insurance of MILLIONS of Americans…3 months after Obamacare was passed!
“I’m still learning about it. It’s 20,000 pages of regulations. The Bill was 2,000 pages and I didn’t realize this until this week, the whole idea of you losing or getting your insurance cancelled wasn’t in the original Obamacare. It was a regulation WRITTEN BY PRESIDENT OBAMA, three months later. So we had a vote, this is before I got up there. The Republicans had a vote to try to cancel that regulation so you COULDN’T BE CANCELLED, to grandfather everybody in. You know what the vote was? Straight party line. EVERY DEMOCRAT VOTED TO KEEP THE RULE THAT CANCELS YOUR INSURANCE.”
As the now 20,000+ Obamacare pages come home to roost, remind those who have continued to support the Liar-in-Chief, regardless of his crimes, of this simple fact: The man who sits in the Oval Office (when he’s not on a golf course), and the Party to which they have pledged their unquestioning allegiance, has now wholly betrayed them. And their children.
The Daily Caller tells us that:
“The 17 million people who are covered in the individual health insurance market, where switching of plans and substantial changes in coverage are common, will receive the new protections of the Affordable Care Act sooner rather than later,” a press release from the time showed. “Roughly 40 percent to two-thirds of people in individual market policies normally change plans within a year. In the short run, individuals whose plan changes and is no longer grandfathered will gain access to free preventive services, protections against restricted annual limits, and patient protections such as improved access to emergency rooms.”
It seems like the Obama administration knew a lot of things they aren’t telling us. Thanks to his rewriting the law three months after it passed Congress, they knew that most Americans would lose their coverage, and now it appears that they knew that the website would be a bust and only be able to handle 1,100 visitors at a time. Administration officials claimed that the Obamacare website failed because of a higher than expected response. They said the 250,000 hits were more than they anticipated. But thanks to memos released by the House Oversight and Reform Committee reveals that the site would crash after it reached 1,100 people…
The site was tested the day before the roll out and the testing showed that it could not handle more than 1,100 visitors at a time. The report said specifically, “Currently we are able to reach 1,100 users before response time gets too high.” The report said they hoped to be able to raise the limit to 10,000 within five days, but were denied the ability to work on it by the roll out. That is still far below the 60,000 they predicted or the 250,000 who actually logged on.
So now, we are getting numbers that are absolutely ridiculous. In a press release at White House.gov, dated November 14th, Obama reported that over 100,000 people have successfully enrolled in Obamacare.
Yesterday, the White House announced that in the first month, more than 100,000 Americans successfully enrolled in new insurance plans. Is that as high a number as we’d like? Absolutely not. But it does mean that people want affordable health care. The problems of the website have prevented too many Americans from completing the enrollment process. And that’s on us, not on them. But there is no question that there’s real demand for quality, affordable health insurance.
Yesterday CNN reported different numbers.
Enrollment is harder to pin down in the 36 states using HealthCare.gov, although it’s running well behind the states with their own programs. As of November 2, just 26,794 people had enrolled in the HealthCare.gov states. CNN’s current tally for this group is 43,743 enrollees, but that’s based on just a handful of states that have provided updates.
In addition, 58,857 newly eligible people have enrolled in state Medicaid programs, with another 275,131 people signed up to start Medicaid coverage on January 1, 2014.
Neither Obama nor CNN explained how they come up with these figures. They are not counting people who actually went onto the website, filled out the forms, and paid for their insurance. They based their numbers on people who put a particular plan in a shopping cart whether they pay for it or not.
Can you imagine if Wal-Mart counted their annual sales based on how many people walked into their store and filled a shopping cart with merchandise, whether they actually bought it or not?
When I was younger my husband, Michael, and I would walk around Wal-Mart and “shop”. We filled up a basket with all kinds of goodies we wanted to buy. Then common sense would take over, and we would walk back around the store replacing most of it. We only bought the few things we needed. It was an lovely night out “window” shopping and was a great cheap date. Yet, based on the way they tally Obamacare “sells” they are claiming everything in the shopping cart whether it gets to the register or not.
Business doesn’t work that way. Intentions don’t pay the bills. Money does. But for some reason in Obama’s world anything and everything works just the way he wants it to work. This is until enough of his Democrat conspirators wake up to just how they were duped into pulling off one of the greatest heist in American history.
